In this video I am covering the conditions and benefits of applying for an authorized economic operator in the context of import export activity. From my point of view, if you are the owner/representative of an SME, I wouldn't get the authorization directly, but try to benefit indirectly from this authorization by selecting a service provider (freight forwarder, customs broker, transporter) that is already authorized either for AEOC (customs simplification) either for AEOS (security and safety). In my opinion, the benefits of being an AEO are not worth the investments (infrastructure, IT, human resources), especially considering the fact that once you've gained the AEO status you will have to maintain it.
