NIDA grantee Rajita Sinha discusses the importance of considering sex and gender differences while studying the causes and treatment of substance use disorders. In this segment she discusses the effects of drugs on men versus women. Dr. Sinha is a Professor of Neurobiology and Child Study in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale University. She is the Founding Director of the Yale Stress Center that focuses on understanding the effects of stress on emotions, mood and behaviors. She is also developing and testing new pharmacological and behavioral strategies to reverse the toxic effects of stress and addictive behaviors.
