Average Income By State

Incomes vary - and there are a number of factors at play. Age, gender, location, etc. The same job in Washington can pay radically different in Tennessee. So where you live matters - and it certainly influences your paycheck.

And of course different states have different costs of living - and yes, whether you are in a city or out in the rural areas of a state will also matter as well.
