Alastair Graham-Bryce Memorial Lecture: Inspiring prospective students and lifelong learners into Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering
This year, the annual Alastair Graham-Bryce Memorial Lecture will feature a presentation from distinguished engineer and industrialist Dr Tony Bannan. Tony will explore the history and future of machinery in industry, showing the progression from primarily mechanical devices through to integrated mechanical, control, and electrical systems manufactured via automated processes.
The aim of this talk is to demonstrate how understanding of the historical dependence of society and the economy can inspire future generations of engineers. The online lecture will also feature a demonstration of a recent student engineering project illustrating advanced machinery – highlighting the potential for young engineers to deliver exciting tools.
Finally, Tony will answer audience questions while challenging viewers to envisage future shifts in technology and the skills required to realise them.
This webinar will feature an introduction from former IMechE President Terry Spall.
